The photo for February shows Spurn Head Lighthouse, Humberside in East Yorkshire. This distinctive red and white lighthouse stands on Spurn Head, a striking 4.8km-long, narrow sand spit, forming the north bank of the Humber Estuary. Spurn is a haven for wetland and migratory birds and seals and porpoises may be sighted offshore. June's image features Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales. This picturesque small market town with stone houses, shops and a busy cobbled market square dates back to the 12th century. Surrounded by rolling hills, farms, fields and pastures grazed by sheep and criss-crossed by dry-stone walls, in a wide glacial valley, it is home to the Yorkshire Dales National Parks Centre. The green slopes are marked by white scars of limestone rock forming dramatic outcrops.
