The branch line from Ballinluig through Grandtully to Aberfeldy north of Perth in Scotland, passes through some extremely attractive countryside. Penetrating the light and shade on this occasion is a McIntosh Caledonian ‘439’ Class No. 55200.On September’s page the painting is called ‘Jacob’s Leyland’. Before its merger with the car giant BMC, the name Leyland had an excellent reputation for well-engineered products and this 1949 22.0/1 eight-wheeler Octopus of Jacob’s Biscuits typified the marque. This vehicle carried 3,000 tins of biscuits from Liverpool to London.
