Kindred Spirits Desk Calendar Overview

Communication and kinship are the theme of the Kindred Spirits desk calendar, where animals and birds from all over the world are perceptively photographed in pairs and family groups. Adorable images of some of the most liked and admired species provide an absorbing insight into family and friendship in the animal kingdom in this engaging desk calendar.

A green turtle is pictured in May, in Hawaii, USA, named after the green colour of the fat under its large flat shell. Found in tropical and sub-tropical waters, they migrate long distances between nesting sites and feeding grounds. Females dig a hole in the sand with their flippers to lay their eggs by night. Once hatched, baby turtles instinctively head for the sea. In August we see a group of Guira cuckoos, in Pantanal, Argentina. These shaggy-looking, noisy birds live in dry habitats in groups of 6-8. They are non-parasitic and build a communal nest, a large platform of sticks high in a tree, where they roost, huddling together in cold weather. Groups will forage together for insects, frogs, eggs and small animals.
