In this promotional calendar for 2026, there’s an image of Fjaorargljufur Canyon in Southern Iceland. This spectacular canyon has a unique serpent-like shape. It is 100m deep and 2km long, with sheer walls dotted with many waterfalls. It was formed over millions of years by progressive erosion caused by water flowing from glaciers through the rocks on the Fjaora River which still flows through it today. A waterfall flows down the western side of the canyon, visible from an observation platform. Tekapo Lake, South Island, New Zealand is featured in another delightful image. This beautiful lake in the dramatic Southern Alps gets its intense milky-turquoise colour from the fine rock-flour (ground by glaciers), suspended in the water. It is also known for its seasonal display of lupins that bloom along its shores.
