One delightful photo is of a badger, a territorial mammal which always keeps to the same paths and tracks. Recognised by its black and white striped face, badgers live in a social group called a clan. Most active in summer, by day they stay in a sett, a system of underground tunnels and nesting chambers, emerging at night to search for worms, insects and berries. Two grey seals are shown in another lovely image. These large seals with grey-brown, blotched fur spend two thirds of the year feeding on fish out at sea. Seals congregate in large breeding colonies, mainly along exposed rocky coasts, secluded beaches and islands. Pups are born in the autumn and have dense soft fur.
