Visors for Care Homes

Rose Calendars Visors for Care Homes

Using materials readily available within the manufacturing and packaging of promotional products, Rose Calendars have put our creative minds to the test in designing and making visors in an effort to help the local care community. We have responded to the current challenges of protecting residents and staff at local care homes from coronavirus as they are not able to source visors easily at this time. Even before the announcement was made that care homes are becoming increasingly vulnerable to the spread of the virus, we had begun making visors, and we were very pleased to be able to donate these to a number of care homes this week.

Through contact with friends and family either residing or working in care homes in Colchester and the wider Essex area, we firstly established that with the materials we had, we could engineer a suitable shield for short term protection. The team were able to make a headband using corrugated card, which is used in the packing of our calendars – protecting them when they are delivered to customers. Once the headband had been perfected, a visor was cut and fitted to the band with an elasticated strap to keep the visors in place.

Caremark in Great Dunmow received 30 visors, which were made over the Easter weekend and personally delivered by a member of the team who lives locally. Natalie Perry from Caremark said: “You are amazing giving up your time to make these visors. My work colleagues and I are really grateful to you.”

Freda Gunton Lodge, part of the Balkerne Gardens Trust located in the centre of Colchester were also recipients of a delivery of face visors and are expecting a further delivery in the next couple of days. Staff at Balkerne Gardens are working hard to keep residents safe, comfortable and entertained during the COVID-19 outbreak, and these visors will help them in doing this.

Michael Rose, Managing Director of Rose Calendars, said:

“We are pleased to be able to donate some PPE for those who do not have access to any kind of protection to keep both carers and patients safe. It is particularly important that we protect those who are risking their own safety on a daily basis by caring for the elderly and we are extremely grateful for their efforts.”

Dan Godbold, Works Manager at Rose Calendars, has been part of the team responsible for production of the visors and making the deliveries. He added that: “using the materials which we have for promotional notebooks and calendars is an excellent way for our business to help in this time of need. I’m glad to have helped.”

Visors delivered to date total over one hundred items, with the company continuing production for the time being, while the need remains. If you have a requirement for visors and are local to Colchester, please do get in touch and we will endeavour to help you.
