Newspapers for 365 Days a Year for St Helena Hospice
For the next 365 days patients and families at St Helena Hospice will be able to enjoy daily newspapers thanks to sponsorship from Rose Calendars.
Having been an established printing company in Colchester since 1908, we firmly believe it’s incredibly important to support the local community, and by providing printed material, the association with newspapers is clear. Managing Director Michael Rose’s great, great uncle George Rose funded the building of Alms houses in the town, in addition to sponsoring a ward at Essex County Hospital, so charity is close to our hearts.
Commenting on our donation, Michael Rose said “Sponsoring newspapers at St Helena Hospice for a year sounded like the perfect fit for us as calendar printers. We believe printed publications still have a vital role. We wanted to offer something which would be enjoyed by patients every day, just like our calendars!”
With the help of the local community the hospice are able to help local people face incurable illness and bereavement and daily newspapers provide a welcome distraction and service. Rose Calendars found the idea of providing a useful and practical offering very moving, and were only too pleased to support the hospice in this way as part of their annual fundraising programme for St Helena’s.
We have recently printed The Severalls Business Group’s (SBG) calendar for 2019, which also supports the hospice through The Birkett Long LLP £50 Challenge, where the initial donation of fifty pound notes is given four months to grow. As a member of the group, the idea to extend a printed offering from calendars to newspapers followed the production of the charity calendar and a working relationship was established between Rose Calendars and The Hospice. It is hoped this relationship will develop and that fundraising will continue well into 2019.
The Hospice Calendar is available to purchase at the cost of just £5 from Rose Calendars’ premises in Clough Road, Colchester. CO4 9QT
